Guides from The PassPath
AI-Assisted Marking, explained.
“AI marking” means different things on different sites. Here is exactly what it means inside The PassPath, and what it does not mean.
It is deterministic, not conversational
AI-Assisted Marking checks a student's answer against the official exam board mark scheme for that question. It is not a chatbot, and it does not have a conversation with your child about the topic.
It shows where marks were gained and lost
The output is a breakdown: which mark-scheme points were hit, which were missed, and why -- the same information a teacher marking against a scheme would give, just faster.
It is not a tutor and not an examiner
It does not teach the topic, and it is not a simulated version of a real examiner. It is one tool inside the system: the marking step, done consistently, every time.
Why this matters more than it sounds like it should
Most marks are lost to the same handful of mark-scheme misses -- an unexplained command word, a missing unit, an argument that never reaches a conclusion. Spotting these consistently, on every past paper a student attempts, is the part that is hard to do by hand every single time. AI-Assisted Marking does that one job, checked against the real mark scheme, so the mistake log behind every PassPath report is accurate rather than a guess.
What it does not replace
It does not replace a teacher explaining a topic, and it is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind. It replaces one narrow, repetitive task: checking an answer against a mark scheme, the same way every time.
